Hey Ross, it is time you got some light on the DODS.UK website, I know defsil was lazy and did one but lost it or something, what a scotish noob! anyway! could you introduce yourself to the UK community?
Hey! my names Ross Jones , im 19 and from the west midlands, im out of a job at the moment but im a trained computer programmer. I Play for the best team in the world e-static as a heavy!!
Well your an infamous player in the UK community, banned of many public servers etc. but some people may not know your background, so what is your gaming history?
i started gaming back in the late 90's on an old P3 rig,
i used to play unreal tournament on 28k dial up (the good old days) until i found a game called "Delta Force",
i started playing it online after we got a 56k connection and after a while got to a decent skill level,
i was then asked to join a team The Gothenburg Assassins in which i had my first clan and match experience.
After a PC blow up and no money to repair it i came out of gaming for about 6 months. once i had my rig sorted it was
the summer and didn't really play too much anymore so went inactive. whilst on holiday that summer seeing my cousins in
the usa i got shown a game called day of defeat. i instantly fell in love and decided to buy the game when i got home
its all i played for months on end (yes i was one of the pub nubs who sat in avalanche window with a sniper rifle for hours on end,
never clanned in it just played alot of public . a few months later there was word
on the streets of a new day of defeat known as "day of defeat source" which utilized the new source engine. so as soon as it
came out i bought it. i then joined my first dods clan called "[M.R.S.A]" with a few people i had met online. we played
enemydown at a low level but enjoyed it alot. during my time in [M.R.S.A] i was constantly hassled by a member of a clan
at the top of ED known as MrDoDS. after about 3 or 4 months of them asking me to join i put in an application
and got accepted. this was my first time playing at a higher level and found it to be an amazing experience.
after a while a few key members left mrdods so the team started lacking. aKaaa asked me if i would be interested in starting
a new team called "azoic", i agreed and we entered CB/ESL and Enemydown, this time playing at what felt to be a whole
different ball game of skill level. after 6 months or so the clan went inactive due to players being inactive so
me and akaaa decided to end the clan. i then joined RuiN Gaming and also played ESL/CB/ED, but once again people went inactive
and the clan folded. My next team was the one and only azoic clan again! after some talks between me and akaaa
we decided it would be cool to start up our old team as we had an awesome time with all the members. after only a few months
of clanning we once again folded due to inactivity and trouble finding the motivation to play the game due to a recent update.
whilst clanless akaaa offered me a position in a new team called "E-Static" consisting of some well known names in the source
community. i accepted straight away and have since played some very good matches, from losing to noobs to coming close to beatingsome of the best in the community. its had its ups and downs so far but i wish for this clan to last!
You played in azoic for a long time and are now currently playing for E-Static, how do you rate these two teams against each other?
azoic was basically my home in dods, everyone there was awesome and i had the best clan experience ever with the members (aKaaa, kG, nevermind, Fred,
stealth, faithles, tipi, Chuckee.) i feel e-static is a higher skilled clan than azoic and think we have a good chance of becoming a decent well known clan within the community.
all the people in e-static are awesome so only the future can tell how well we will do.
Quick run down of the current E-Static roster and your aims for the team?
Current roster for e-static is me nic and aKaaa heavying, Rickaaa, b2k, choco and kivin playing light, mj as sniper.
my aims for the team is to get a lannable team competing agains the best teams in europe. i think with enough dedication alot
could come out of this team. weve just got to put the effort in and iron out any problems.
With times, people and the gaming industry changing,]What do you see the near future holding for yourself?
i hope to play dods as long as possible. but in the future you never know. i definately want to lan, so i hope we get that sorted out. sometimes i feel that i want to try a more popular game as dods doesnt have alot of lan scene in the UK, but it has a decent hive of activity accross europe. so maybe one day we will all go travelling and meet some of the pro gamers that europe has to offer. i would also love to play for team UK and represent the UK clan scene on the famous european lans.
Would you like to attend the zP and or i37 lan events? who would you like to meet in person? anybody you would like to slap silly for being a bitch?
i would love to attend both, after speaking to rich about i36 it just sounded amazing so that could be very possible. i would love to meet everyone in the community! anyone that plays the game needs a good hand shake from me!. i would love to slap 2 people silly, but one of them is under 18 so would probably go to jail. the other is a guy from clan TNP who seams to have a problem with whatever i do (Monkey if you couldnt have guessed).
The UK community is growing in DODS, what would you like to see more of to encourage people to join and get playing the game?
more UK sponsorship, more promotion of the game and as ive said LANS with dodsource as one of the games (come on i37). all we need is some backing and the UK community could be massive. with thanks to
the dodsource.co.uk website i think the community has already improved drasitcally in size (gj tront). with the recent jaw dropping performance of team UK i feel things can only go up
from here.
The UK community currently seems as strong as ever with dystopia raging through ESL, the former imperial team was doing very well before its demise, who do you rate in the UK community?
Dyst have been amazing recently so its great to see a UK team doing so well and ofcourse TEAM UK.
Meh, its not all about gaming, who's company do you enjoy and would hope to meet maybe in the future?
ive enjoyed akaaa's company for almost a year and would be awesome to finally meet the git one day. would love to meet all the UK dods players, and some of the people ive gotten to know
during my time in the game.akaaa,luk3,rin,rel,lindo,fluffy,exo,jo3y,rickaaaa,kooshini,donut,choco,kivin,alfie,leelee,defsil,kg,lemming,b2k,bom,aaroh,pyle,rbk,tom,maloney. Hyst clan,TFT Clan, SAS clan and all the servers clans i play on regularly. sorry if i missed anyone!!
all the members of the clans ive played for.Hyst,MrDoDS,azoic,MRSA,E-Static. everyone in the UK scene (yes including ireland and wales) and rickaaa for being my brown bear. special thanks to akaaa for getting
me into the clan scene in dods properly. without you mate i wouldnt be playing today. cheers! ill buy you a drink on lan!
